In the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, AMEN. Almighty God, we thank you for the opportunity to be with you today.
First we ask for special grace, peace, and healing for all of our families who have been affected by this COVID Pandemic. We pray that your compassion and deep love will comfort the hearts who have lost loved ones. Help us to be a caring HOLY FAMILY of support for all of our children and families today and in the days to come.
Guide us today with your divine wisdom and open our minds, hearts, and spirits that we may receive all that you offer us to grow into all you created us to be. In your Holy Name we pray, AMEN

The Transfiguration of Jesus Christ
PRAYER:
Almighty Father, you showed your Son Jesus in his divine light to the first disciples (LEADERS) who carried on Jesus’ work on earth after he departed back to your heavenly kingdom.
Please give us the faith and desire to pray with you EVERY day as Jesus did so we would clearly understand and courageously carry out what you want us to do each day as we learn to love you and others as Jesus did.
In the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit....AMEN.
GOSPEL: Mark 9:2-9: The Transfiguration
2 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, 3 and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. 7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” 8 And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only.
9 And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
In the Transfiguration story, Jesus takes three of his closest followers, Peter, James and John up to a quiet place to pray with God the Father. While Jesus is praying,
1. What do the disciples see? Verses 2-4.
Jesus= pure, white light.
Jesus talking to messengers from God: Moses and Elijah
2. What were they talking about? Verse 4
God the Father’s assignment for Jesus
Die on the cross for OUR sins once and for all
Be resurrected and be the WAY back to God for ALL.
3. What did God the FATHER say to the disciples? V. 7
“This is my beloved Son listen to him!!!”
4. What did Jesus want Peter, James, and John to learn?
Our Father in Heaven was with him when he prayed in a quiet place.
Everything that happened to Jesus was all planned out before it happened.
Jesus listened to His Father and was OBEDIENT to God’s Plan
5. What does God the Father want US to do?
Listen to what Jesus tells us to do in our hearts!
ASK JESUS EVERY DAY in your PRAYER time:
Jesus, what do you want me to do?
Then LISTEN and OBEY him!!! Write it down in your journal.

Everyone:
God, our loving Father,
Thank you for all the ways you bless us and forgive our sins
With your grace, please help us to have humble hearts and feel truly sorry when we make choices that do not give you the love and respect you give us.
Help us to prepare our whole being: our minds, hearts, and souls during these 40 Days of Lent starting today, ASH Wednesday to joyfully receive the RESURRECTED Jesus as our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit as one God, for ever and ever. AMEN
Leader (Parent or Older Sibling)
Almighty God, you have created us from the dust of the earth: Grant that these ashes may be for us a symbol of our mortality[i] and a sign of our penitence[ii], that we may remember that it is by your grace alone that we receive the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
Then ashes are imposed with the following words and with the Q tip dipped into ashes, making the sign of the cross on each forehead:
Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
Everyone says the OUR FATHER together.
LET’S PRAY the BLESSED PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father:
Thank you for calling me to be part of your Holy Family.
It is so amazing that you figured out a wonderful plan for my life before I was in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for all the ways you bless me.
Help me to be aware that every person, place, and adventure I experience is an opportunity to love you more.
Fill me with a desire to change and to grow,
and give me the grace to become the-best-version-of-myself in every moment of every day. AMEN

[ii] Penitence: the act of feeling sad when we know we have done something wrong that would make God sad even if He still loves us.
